Deepa Sahi and Ketan Mehta have joined hands to launch Maya Media, a division of Maya Movies Pvt. Ltd., to produce quality content for the fast-growing Indian television industry. The two will be involved in the company at a creative advisory level.

Says Sahi: "We have produced several shows for television before, under the banner of Maya Movies. Now we have set up a division, especially for television content. The television sector is hotting up with a slew of new channels cropping up.

Using a dedicated division, we hope to do more high-end work in both fiction and non-fiction for them."

Under the supervision of creative head Rishi Bhojnagarwala, who was previously executive producer of Zee Telefilms Ltd., Maya Media is in the process of conceptualizing and pitching ideas to channels in genres like travel and lifestyle, action thrillers and food related shows.

Maya Movies and its team has earlier made popular shows like "Mr. Yogi" (comedy series on DD), "Margarita", "Chhota Muh Aur Badi Baat", "X-Zone", "Pradhan Mantri" on Zee TV, "Time Bomb 9/11" (award winning mini series) on Zee TV, "Chacha Chaudhary" on Sahara One, and "HuBahu" on Sony.

Maya Movies has a stake in Maya Entertainment, a computer animation and digital visual effects studio. Maya Entertainment also runs Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC), a training institute for computer animation.
